Leveraging annual campaigns to build a stronger safety culture



This week marks Fire Prevention Week – a campaign by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) dedicated to education on fire prevention efforts. While the NFPA primarily focuses the campaign on the home (this year's campaign is on smoke alarms), we know that there's extensive prevention efforts completed in commercial facilities. Afterall, we do spend the majority of our adult life working so it's essential that our workplaces are safe.

 
The week helps serve as a reminder that creating a safety culture in your workplace is not a one-and-done activity – it needs to be reinforced each and every day through prioritization of routine inspections, fixing any hazards or deficiencies found in a timely manner, continuous learning and recognition of those who are doing a good job.
